Round 2 of Rumormonger Idol starts today! Vote for Station V3 today at buzzComix and TopWebcomics to see Contestant Two and Contestant Three.

Did they do better than they did in Round 1? Worse? No change? What do you think? :)

I saw a bit of the other Idol show (you know, the one on TV where people attempt to sing) the other day - generally, it seems like whenever one of the contestants attempts a song I actually like, the results are not good. And unfortunately, that was certainly the case on Monday when Roy "Treat Her Right" Head's son attempted The Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin." (I could also mention how many people seem to think the song is called "Knights in White Satin," but that's a different subject.) I didn't expect it to come close to the original (and it didn't) - but it could at least have been in tune! (Though it was still one of the high points of what I saw... Hopefully he'll stick around and improve. Maybe get a chance to sing "Treat Her Right.")

Maybe they should try a Psychedelic theme night this year. The results might at least be entertaining! :)

Getting back to Rumormonger Idol, in today's first bonus strip, the judges attempt to explain why Contestant 2 made it through to Round 2 and Contestant 1 got kicked off, and in the second, the sprite rumormonger with a hat also has some thoughts on the elimination. Thanks for voting!

The results for the 2007 Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards were announced online today!

Station V3 wasn't nominated for anything (and neither were Z7 and Ebb's Children), I missed sending in any nominations (email problems), and my voting link email apparently got zapped by Verizon's spam filter (twice!) - but there were a lot of good comics nominated. Congratulations to the winners (some of whom I would have voted for)!

I never did say when I was going to end the Rumormonger Idol Round 1 "who gets kicked off" poll, did I? Let's make it the end of today - so if you haven't voted yet, you still can!

And for today's bonuses, a completely-unrelated-to-Rumormonger-Idol sprite strip, and a bad translation of today's strip that changes Alternate Floyd's son from a "he" to an "it." (Well, 'he' is a robot, so I suppose that's true enough!)

The Rumormonger Idol results aren't in yet, but in today's first bonus a sprite-rumormonger (with a hat) thinks he knows who's getting kicked off! And today's second bonus is a bad translation of today's strip (this time by way of French on Babel Fish - the last one was German). Thanks for voting!

And getting back to Commodore Decker for a moment, apparently "The Doomsday Machine" is the next remastered Star Trek episode coming up! I haven't seen any of the remastered episodes yet, but some of the preview pictures look interesting. (I'm not sure if I'd prefer seeing the original plastic Enterprise model and blow-torch effects on the episode or the computer-generated replacements, but I guess it's nice to have the choice!)

I had a feeling I wasn't getting it quite right...

In the alternate version of yesterday's strip, Linton's response to being told there is no third planet is "You think I don't know that?!" And of course, in the Star Trek episode The Doomsday Machine, Commodore Decker's line upon being told the third planet he beamed his crew down to isn't there, his response is "Don't you think I know that?!"

Oh well... I did say it was "Commodore Decker-style," not an exact quote. :)

And in completely unrelated news, the groundhog didn't see his shadow today.

Today's second bonus strip is an alternate version of today's strip, in which Linton gives the proper Commodore Decker-style response to being told there is no third planet.
