2008/11/14   V3: 1999
Today's strip is the 1,999th strip in the archives! (So guess what number tomorrow's is?)

In other 1999-related news, Episode 27 of PodWarp 1999 went up last week (with guest David C. Simon of Crimson Dark)!

In unrelated news, I've made the RSS feed a little more visible (the feed itself hasn't changed, but now there's a permanent front page link for it), and added my Twitter feed to the front page.

2007/12/30   Answering my email in public
It occurs to me that some of the things I said in replies to recent email might be of interest to some more of you, so:

If you tried registering for the forum but never got your activation email, check to see if it got filtered as spam. If you still can't find it, email me and I'll activate your account.

And:

There is an RSS feed of Station V3, at http://www.stationv3.com/comic.xml.

Also:

Someone is around the corner from my house with something that has a very loud engine - like a snowmobile, except there really isn't enough snow for that right now. It's very annoying.

(Okay, that last one wasn't really a reply to anybody's email. But it could have been!)

2007/09/01   September State of the Station
August was a pretty busy month here - a lot of people reading through the archives lately. New readers? Looking for answers for the trivia quiz? Going back and re-reading some of your favorite strips? Whoever you are and whatever the reason, thanks for reading! And point your friends here if you think they'll like it! (If not, maybe some new friends...?)

So, about the Station V3 book, and that trivia quiz... Since this is September 1st, I can tell you someone has posted the right answers to the quiz, and will be getting a copy of the 'prototype space pod' version of the book. And since September 1st isn't over yet, you can go see those right answers, post them yourself, and win a copy of the photocopied-and-stapled Station V3 mini-comic I put together for this year's Free Comic Book Day, featuring a slightly revised Third Planet story. Do it now! Or if you'd rather wait for the book, it'll be going on sale later this month. (Of course, you can always get both... That's allowed!)

On the technical side of things, the host I'm on seems to be having a couple problems today - which fortunately aren't affecting things here at this point, but if the site is suddenly gone, that may be the reason. (Of course, if it *is* gone, you most likely aren't reading this.) The LiveJournal feed should be unaffected even if it does disappear, though, so you can always check that. I'll try to get everything back up and running as soon as possible if it does go zap.

And finally, a big Thank You to everyone who voted for Station V3 last month and kept the comic in the Top 100 on TopWebcomics and buzzComix - it does seem to help bring in at least a few new visitors, according to the site logs! I've got two new bonuses up today to get this month started: A sprite strip in which Linton is not especially pleased with how he did in the first round of the Security Simulation Tournament, and a bad translation of today's strip. Thanks for voting, and if you have a bonus request, let me know!

2007/06/13   Feeding Station V3
I'm working on some more updates to the site - fixing a few layout problems, moving a few things around, that sort of thing. I downloaded the Windows version of Safari the other day, so that'll give me a fourth browser to check the site on after Firefox, IE, and Opera. (And I suppose I could boot up Linux and check it on Konqueror too!) So my mission, should I choose to accept it, will be to get the site looking the way I want it on all four (or five) browsers.

One change I've already made is a little less visible - unless maybe you're reading this right now instead of seeing today's comic like you expected to. I had a feed of the current strip up at http://www.stationv3.com/rss.xml, but I'm also updating the blog part of the site with Blogger, and that also likes to update the rss.xml file (and atom.xml). So every time I updated the blog, I'd have to remember to run my comic update script too, to make sure the rss.xml file had the comic instead of the blog. And if someone commented on a blog post, that'd also update the rss.xml file, and I might not notice for hours. So I figured instead of having Blogger and my comic script fighting over rss.xml, I'd let Blogger update that, and I moved the comic feed over to http://www.stationv3.com/comic.xml - so if anyone was checking the feed at rss.xml, you may want to move it over to comic.xml now instead!

On a related note, if you'd like Station V3 to be your friend on LiveJournal, there's a syndication feed already set up there. Right now it's running off a mirror instead of the main site here, but it still (usually) updates on time!

And of course, there's still the option of visiting this site every day to see the current strip, which is certainly not something I'm going to discourage! :)

(Oh yes, by the way... the zombies are attacking today!)
