2008/06/06   Glass Prism

File this one under "Bands I never thought I'd get to see" - I've got my tickets for the Glass Prism concert at the Scranton Cultural Center tomorrow!

(It's not the first time they've played there - they opened for Vanilla Fudge there about 40 years ago!)

They recorded two albums for RCA - Their first album, "Poe through the Glass Prism," was released in 1969, and featured (as you might expect from the title) the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe set to rock music. "The Raven" was released as a single, and was a big hit locally. They wrote their own lyrics for the second album, "On Joy And Sorrow," released in 1970, but the sound was still similar - guitar, bass, drums, and organ. From what I've read, they'll be playing a 90-minute set, with songs from both albums, and some new material.

(And hopefully Ebb won't steal the tickets on me!)

2007/09/23   Comic #1581
Today's comic is the 1581st in the archives.

(After 1541 and 1571, this one was inevitable! I couldn't do 1551 because I don't have one of those, and I didn't think of it at 1531. And the 1531 is a tape drive, anyway.)

2007/09/13   Comic #1571
Today's comic is the 1571st in the archives. So, to mark the occasion...

(Some of you may have been expecting this today after this photo went up for the 1541st strip 30 days ago...)

2007/07/21   Book of the Day

(Apparently Ebb didn't get the message about Harry Potter...)

Today at Black Diamond Antiques at the Schuylkill Mall in Frackville, PA, I was looking through some books at one of the booths - a lot of science fiction (I was hoping maybe I'd find "The Space Barbarians" by Tom Godwin, but no such luck), and a lot of TV show tie-in books. And of course a lot of overlap between the two - mostly Star Trek, of course, but there were also a few (original) Battlestar Galactica books, and surprisingly, a lot of Space: 1999 books!

I wound up buying "The Space Guardians" (seen above with Ebb). One reason I picked that one was the fact that one of the episodes novelized in it is "Force of Life," which is one of my favorites from the first season. And it was also the cheapest one they had. :)

2007/06/20   The Plant's Relative

One of the Plant's relatives has come to visit... Obviously not a very close relative, since this one has leaves! (And also tomatoes at some point, we hope.)

The site redesign continues with an update of the comic archive navigation - there are new arrow buttons, the story selection dropdown box is now available on all archive pages (and has been updated to include some of the storylines after 2005), and buttons have been added for some of the social bookmarking sites out there.

And on the voting bonus front, there's a bad translation of today's strip, and a sprite strip in which two rumormongers disagree about disagreeing.

2006/04/05   The things you find on your hard drive...
I was going through some of the files in the Station V3 folder on my hard drive, and found a photo of Ebb with the Space: 1999 soundtrack album. I remember mentioning finding the album (apparently in August 2004), but I don't think I ever put the picture up anywhere!

It's a little late, but here it is now:

(And it's a great album, in case anyone was wondering! The music was one of the best things about the show.)
