Connectedness Continues at the Record Show

The record show today was a lot of fun – we got some interesting records and talked to some interesting people! Somehow, continuing the connectedness from yesterday, Kim Fowley got mentioned in one of the conversations, and I was even the one to bring him up! And we also saw a copy of the album “Bubble Gum” was from (“Outrageous”), but didn’t buy it. $78 was a little more than I wanted to pay for it! Sort of a strange price, too… And speaking of 78, a few dealers also had 78s at the show. We didn’t buy any of those, either. (I don’t think I even have a turntable that spins at 78!) But we did buy several 45s, which can be seen with Ebb in the picture above.

Coincidentally, 45 is the position Station V3 got to on the buzzComix list last month! So for today first bonus, here’s a Rumormonger Idol-related record that I certainly didn’t buy at the show. (Let’s see if we can get the 45 in the Top 40!) And today’s second bonus is a judges’ reaction to round 2. The “Who Gets Kicked Off” poll is now open on the forum, so if there’s a contestant you like – vote for one of the other ones instead. :)

(And in case you were wondering what 45s are in the picture with Ebb, the ones standing up are the “4 – By the Beach Boys” EP, The Five Americans’ “7:30 Guided Tour,” and Herman’s Hermits’ “Dandy.” The ones on top of the two piles are “Bo Diddley Bach” by the Kingsmen, and “Go Down Gamblin'” by Blood, Sweat, and Tears.)
